Stop Sasol Seismic Testing off the Bazaruto Archipelago Islands
Together we can...
About the Sasol Project
Sasol, a South African Oil and Gas company plans to carry out seismic testing north of Bazaruto Island in an attempt to find oil and gas. This would be catastrophic for Vilankulo & Inhassoro.
Seismic testing is firing mega-blasts of sound into the seabed. It is harmful to marine animals from the smallest plankton to the largest whale. The scientific evidence is irrefutable.
Fishermen will be affected by the loss of fish and the closure of large areas of the ocean around the test sites.
Tourism will be affected by the detrimental effect on the reefs and islands of the National Park.
Contrary to rumours, this is not yet a done deal!
We need to work together as a community to stop this.
Why Seismic testing is so terrible.

Dolphins can beach themselves after seismic testing
These dolphins beached themselves in 2006 and at the same time a seismic buoy also washed up in the same area.
